Getting
To Know...Part One
As we embark on our first season back in the Molten Spartan
South Midlands League, we'll be taking a look at the clubs
we'll be facing this season in a three part series.

Aylesbury
FC
We
only visited Haywood Way last season, when the club was known
as Aylesbury Vale, for a pre-season friendly. Jay Jay, Peter
Hiney and Darrell Elliott provided the goals in the 3-3 draw.
One familiar face we look forward to seeing is Roger Dance.
The former Blues' chairman now takes up the same post for
the Moles. Roger led Dunstable through three seasons in the
Southern League as well as a Bedfordshire Senior and Premier
Cup double.
Aylesbury, now their fifth name since being founded in 1930,
are enjoying their most successful years after decades in
local leagues.

Biggleswade
United
FC
Another
club that Town only faced last season. Darrell Elliott's goal
giving the Blues a 1-0 win at Second Meadow in the Bedfordshire
Senior Cup Semi-final.
United, currently celebrating their 50th season in existence,
have only had two seasons outside the South Midlands League/Spartan
South Midlands League in the past 40 years. As well as a midtable
finish, the club equalled their best performances in both
the FA Cup (1st Qualifying Round) and FA Vase (2nd Round)
last season.

Brimsdown
Rovers
FC
The
Magpies, in the familiar Newcastle-esque kit, last faced Dunstable
in the Spartan South Midlands Senior Division in 2000/01.
Brimsdown won 2-1 at Creasey Park before Town ran out 6-1
winners at Goldsdown Road en route to promotion.
Brimsdown have spent the past 20 years of their 62 year existence
in the Spartan South Midlands League and have had a young
David Beckham on their books.

Broxbourne
Borough
FC
Town
last faced Broxbourne in the Spartan South Midlands Premier
Division winning season of 2002/03, winning 3-2 at home and
4-0 at Goffs Lane.
Boro have are another club celebrating 50 years in football
and have maintained a run of 11 seasons in the Spartan South
Midlands Premier Division.

Chalfont
St Peter
AFC
Dunstable
have never faced Chalfont St Peter in a league competition,
although the reserve teams closely contested the Suburban
Leauge Northern Division title in 2007/08.
The Saints spent 22 years in the Isthmian (Ryman) League before
transferring to the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division
in 2005/06. Chalfont also reached the semi-final of last season's
FA Vase, with over 1,000 in attendance of each leg.

Colney
Heath
FC
Dunstable
last faced Colney Heath back in 2000/01 in the Spartan South
Midlands Senior Division, with either side winning 2-1 away
from home.
The Magpies spent 46 years trying to get out of the Herts
County League, finally doing so in 2000, and progressed well
through the Spartan South Midlands League since.

Hanwell
Town
FC
The
Geordies are another club Dunstable faced in the Spartan South
Midlands Premier Division winning season of 2002/03. Hanwell
won a 4-3 epic at Creasy Park after the Blues won 2-0 at The
Recreation Ground.
Hanwell recently spent a season in the Southern League South
& West Division, with their highlight being a 6-0 home
win over Newport IOW.
That's
the end of part one, part two will follow in the next week
or so. Don't forget to check out the club directiory in the
first team section for all the important information on every
club we face in the league, cups and friendlies this season.
